In a dream...I am riding my horse and we are walking the open plains on a sunny day. In the distance we can see a wild herd grazing. Suddenly dark clouds move in from the west and a storm brews. Fat heavy raindrops begin to fall and lightning strikes. The herd breaks into a thunderous run. They are not afraid; this is a game to them! They race toward me and I dismount. A pale horse breaks from the pack. She scolds the others to stay in line as she approaches. She calls to my horse and he goes to her. He is Thunderstruck*; he wants to run. He gives me a final glance, and I nod in approval.......and he's off!
*Thunderstuck was a beloved thoroughbred racing champion who's life was tragically ended on March 30, 2023 after a post surgery accident.
