Original Creation

Sunset Seascape (Bill Alexander)

flippergirlpaints 25 Oct 2022

So many other TIB artists have painted this one, and I think the original is just so pretty, that I finally went for it. I am not usually a fan of seascapes so I do not do them. This is my 3rd try at any sea with waves. I tried to stay true to the original.

I tried not to have to many expectations going in, and I will say that the end result is better than I thought it would be. It took me about 5 hours and I still see things I can improve on, but I am calling this one done.

If you try this one, it is definitely a more experienced level. Bill does explain a lot as he goes, so that is nice. Sometimes Bob hurries with on 30 minutes, but this one is an hour. I watched it 2x before painting it.

You will use a LOT of paint. You will wash your brush about 1,000 times.

LadyGalaga Shadowlink11

this is stunning!

Told you so that your attempt would be too nice and its the case: wonderful!

So pretty Pam ! Great job!

That sky is pure fire, could even be vampirettes instead of birds in the distance! My type of painting and one that would grace the walls of my home anyday 👏👏

Thank you Jessie - you should give it a try!
Thanks Matt and Jos and Brian - I appreciate your compliments! I know you all have experience with this one!
Thank you Kevin! That is an awesome take on it!

Wowee! What a wild seascape!

Really beautiful and super job Pam!

I keep coming back to look at this one Pam. It is so awesomely badass! I have saved your version so I can reference it when I have another go at this one.

Thank you again Brian!! Bill does not say all of his colors, but I guessed at: titanium white, cadmium yellow, alizarin crimson, permanent red, pthalo green, pthalo blue and van dyke brown. Bill does it in such a "haphazard" manor like a mad scientist!! I made myself mimic his style even though at first I thought "now I really messed up!" (like Bob says!). Trust in the technique. My fan brush is in desperate need of replacing, but it still worked well.

Thank you Voy! It is good to hear from you again!

This came out awesome. I really like how you did the action of the waves. I remember doing this one when I first started painting and it was a lot of fun but really messy haha.
