This is based on an image I found online that someone had painted in a somewhat different style, but I liked the composition. I also note that the Merced river must have been a popular subject, as many other artists (including Bill Alexander - and interestingly even Bob. See image below of a painting I found by Albert Bierstadt of the Merced river and it looks just like Bob's Warm Summer Day!) have painted their versions. I am 99% pleased with how this turned out; as the larger of the 2 small trees gave me some fits. I think I was tired when I got to it and I should have taken a break. 18 x 24.
Beautiful job Pam! Love everything about this!
Wonderful romantic painting! Trees are great just as the path and the river.
Wow, this is like a never-ending story that keeps giving, everywhere you look you notice a subtle difference in colour, shade and texture, the light coming through those right hand trees is so natural, really beautiful picture that could be a photo.
Thank you so much everyone!
Love the trees and the rocks in this one Pam! Beautiful!
Thank you Brian!
Thank you Tom! I believe I have found my style of painting that is most natural for me to achieve the results I want. Back in June I painted a similar landscape (Kern river valley) that I spent several days painting instead of completing it in a single day. That was the first landscape I had ever done that way. I wanted the more realism look that I achieve in my pet portraits. I am wanting to select a JOP episode to paint in this more realist style soon.
beautiful!
Thanks Pietro!
Your paintings are absolutely stunning.
Thank you so much Alexandria!
I agree I love the composition as well! Very detailed and beautiful colors. Your trees have great form and detail and love the distant trees as well :)
Thank you Daniel!

Great work Pam, lovely detail and depth. I remember a piece by Bill. Bob painted so many rivers that one of his pieces must have been based on this river too.
