This is another pet portrait for my portfolio of popular dog breeds. I will upload the reference photo. I chose that photo because it reminded me of a German Shepherd I used to have many years ago named Schultz.
Very nice painting.Love the shepherds!
Awww... it's wonderful!
Thank you all!!
I used to own a couple GSDs when I was younger. Great dogs. Great painting.
Thanks Alex_Ander. They are very sweet and loyal dogs. And quite intelligent. I hope I have captured that in this portrait.
Great work
TY Matt!
Awesome painting flippergirl! Awesome you changed background to the bluish tone to create contrast from brown-orange of a dog to make it stand out really well!
Fantastic!
Thank you Sunnylady and tel!
My word, it is ready to bark! It will either lick my cheek or bit my nose!

Amazing! The color mixing and blending in the fur is so realistic and soft. The eyes are mesmerizing...actually the entire painting is. Wonderful work of art. Thanks for sharing.

So awesome, I want to pet him.
Thanks Cronenberg! I am sure he would let you if he was a real boy (Pinocchio reference LOL) Now I want to pet him too :)
What a beautiful painting of a beautiful pup, to me, this is one of the best paintings ive seen on this site, he looks so alive and almost ready to run off. Brilliant job 😁
FGP I am curious how long do you spend creating a beautiful animal portrait?
Nivek. Thank you so much for the compliments. This portrait is the best thing I have ever painted so far and my favorite as well.
Brian...From blank canvas to final painting about 6-7 hours. I usually do them over a 2 day period.
Thanks for responding… They are amazing.
Speechless. Your talent is unbelievable.
Thank you, Charles. I am so grateful to have discovered this talent that I was clearly born with. This German Shepherd is only the fourth animal I ever painted And the 47th painting I ever did. I still have this lovely fellow that I use as one of my samples for my pet portrait business.
