This is a 12"x8" study of "After a Rain" by Arkhip Kuindzhi from 1879. When I saw a picture of the original, I was rather taken with the lighting. I really got a sense of wet grass and bright light breaking through the thick, bleak, black clouds.
Thank you @Lilikins, I am glad you enjoy the painting! I have uploaded progress photos so you can see the process. As you can see, the main thrust of the painting happened in the first pass. I let that dry (more or less) before adding the little buildings and details. Then I had a couple more short passes for finer detail.
Incredible painting Dracula! Amazing choice!

The contrast between the grass and the sky is beautifully striking. I love the sky. It’s almost like a marbled effect. Did you wait for it to dry and do it in layers? I love it and I can’t stop looking at it!
