Original Creation

Gilles de Rais

dracula 06 Dec 2024

This is my rendition of a different medieval villain to go along with my Countess Bathory painting (https://www.twoinchbrush.com/originals/dracula/countess-bathory). This is a portrait of Gilles de Rais (1405-1440), sometimes called Bluebeard, who was a REALLY bad dude...but was also a Companion-at-Arms with Joan of Arc. Regardless, he was bad news.

This painting is 18"x24" on canvas-laminated panel.

Brilliant, Drac. You've captured the dark intensity of this character perfectly. I wouldn't want to bump into in him that's for sure. Painted beautifully.

Such a wonderful piece of art! So beautifully done!

Amazing, were you a royalty painter in the 1500s? Congratulations, I like that the expression seem to have some arrogance in it!
