1/13/2023 - Tribute to Ajit #2
** NOTE - 1st PIC IS MY LATEST VERSION, 2nd PIC IS MY 1ST VERSION, 3rd PIC IS AJIT'S AWESOME ORIGINAL.
While looking through a Bob Ross painting group on Facebook, I came across a beautiful painting by Ajit B Gadekar from The United Arab Emirates and I was totally mesmerized. I said to myself "I have to try this painting". I have included my 1st version and Ajit's version for reference.
I knew right away I would probably mess up the tree stand somehow, so I immediately decided that I would paint this at least 2 times, with the first time being to work out any problem areas and issues. THIS IS MY 2ND VERSION.
I have to say I am very happy with how this one turned out. That said, I think I am done painting detailed branches like this for a while LOL.
16x20 canvas. Painting #72 in my awesomely fun Bob Ross experience. (fun fact: 28 of the 72 are original compositions, rest are mainly Bob Ross paintings). Never created a painting in my life before Feb 1, 2022. I am really enjoying the journey.
And in between versions, I double gesso-ed 40 white canvases of varying sizes. Up next is 20 black to be double gesso-ed. I won't need to prep any canvases for a while ;)
Ohhh - that is a great tip on the yellow/orange. I struggled with that. I see a touch up coming :) Thanks for the feedback.
I can see why you were really captivated by this painting Tony.....Beautiful work!

Tony, this is great painting and awesome approach to learn!
I like that in this version sky is very much in tune with the snow! Beautiful trees!
Just to share something I learnt from seascapes: when I need to lay yellow/orange onto the blue, before yellow I put pink, blend it a bit and it keeps yellow or orange color on top.
