5/25/2023 - Spring Has Sprung
I have this idea in my head that I am trying to put on canvas. In a nutshell, the idea goes like this: A wide mountain range in the background with a couple of foothills across the front of the mountains forming a nice reset bay for depth. Maybe even a distant cabin or 2 way back on the footies. In front of the mountain range is a large lake containing several islands.
I am considering this painting as practice for laying out what I have in my head. 18" x 24" canvas.
After completing the painting I realize that I am on the right track for my vision, but I need to get more into the painting. I think I can only shrink the scene so much on an 18x24 canvas to get what I want in there, so I am going for the home run.
I am going to try my vision once again, but this time I go with a massive canvas; 30" wide X 40" tall. I want to get at least 5 or 6 islands into the painting. I intend to include a nice cabin on one of the islands. I am even toying in my head with ideas for islands: i.e. Rocky island, birch island, lilac island ... After all, it's my world :) SEE ATTACHED PIC to see the size of my next painting. I have posed this painting (18" x 24" against the blank canvas for the next painting. Just to give you a bit of a mental idea, my plan is to keep the mountains the same size as this painting and extend the spacing of the islands/lake all the way to the bottom of the painting :)

Very good work, your mountains are amazing!
going 30"x40" Brian - lolol
Fantastic painting Tony, especially the details (shape, sun and shadows & snow) in your mountains and background and colours and reflections in the foreground. Well painted. Cheers
