3/15/23 - Happy Islands
First off before I go any further I have to say that the group has really upped it's game - the paintings everyone has shared are so good and quite an inspiration for me. I appreciate each and every one of you - Keep posting your awesome work :) I love all the paintings, from the 1st painting of beginners to the paintings from advanced artists :)
OK, about this painting. I just had a couple ideas in mind when I started: A yellow/crimson/blue sky and snowy mountains. Besides that, I had no idea where this would end up.
I think I did well with the various elements in this one. I tried to put a few highlights in the clouds, not sure if I overdid it. I like the way to paint broke on my mountains. I bought an 16oz jar of Bob Ross titanium white about 10 months ago, and that white is just the perfect consistency for getting paint to break (for me at least). It is a bit firmer than the tube BR titanium white. And besides that, it is an absolute bargain compared to the tubes. I just picked up another 16 oz jar on Jerry's Artarama for $25.75 - AN INCREDIBLE PRICE!! I was worried about dry out, but it was minimal throughout the lifetime of the jar.
I could have done a better job with the reflections, but overall I am quite pleased with this one.
18" x 24" canvas. As always, your comments and suggestions (especially suggestions) are welcome.
