Bookend Bay:
For this original painting I wanted to try something different: Mountains on either side of the painting. That was the only thing I had in mind when I started.
I finished the top half of the painting and then looked at a bunch of landscape photos online trying to decide what to do with the foreground. I found some pictures of showing a view from atop another near by mountain. I decided to try a similar foreground because it gave me a nice opportunity to paint some serious rocks, and practice with a bunch of thinly filled evergreens.
I have to say, I am really happy with the composition on this painting. My brown mountains are really coming along also.
As usual photo does not do the painting justice. 18" x 24" canvas. As always, your comments (especially suggestions) are desired and welcome.
Beautiful mountains. Difficult perspective to paint (for me anyhow). Great job.
Awesome knife work.

Yes! Your mountains are gorgeous as always but I really like your skinny evergreens! Beautiful Tony!
