12 X 12 Series (#5 in series)- Mountain Home.
Have not posted in a few weeks, but I have been playing in the paint.
A few months back Michael's craft store sent me a case of 12"x12" canvases by mistake. I called them and reported the problem and they made it right and told me just to keep the case of 12x12s. I finally figured out what to do with them. I am creating a series of 12" x 12" paintings featuring structures of some type.
While looking at some photographs on the internet. I came across the attached photo. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to try to paint it. The part I thought I would have trouble with was creating the look of thousands of trees on the midground mountain and making it look convincing. After thinking about it for a while, I ended up picking up a script liner brush and I just started making little marks on the mountain side. Well, literally 10,000 little marks later, I think we have a convincing looking mid range mountain. It took me about 2 hours just to create those tiny freaking trees.
For a change, picture came out decent (I recently purchased a 32" photo booth, which seems to have made a big difference. 12" x 12" canvas. As always, your comments (especially suggestions) are desired and welcome. After posting my recent 6 completed paintings, I will spend a day or so catching up and commenting on everyone's awesome art work.
