Sunset - Paint with Bram inspired

Tom0779 14 Aug 2023

This has been done after a beautiful tutorial by CRI Bram (YouTube channel Paint with Bram).
Thank you twoinchbrush member Cosmo who brought me to that tutorial.
I love paintings with a strong red hue, so I had to do that one. I made some changes, e.g the sun area and I put some highlights on the trees. I am definitely influenced by Bill Alexander and this might show here too. And of course I made the sun like he did.
I left the foreground black on purpose. I was afraid to loose the contrast between light and dark.
What I learned totally new from Bram is to paint evergreens with the filbert brush. That works fantastic and I will sure use that technique in the future too.

Just gorgeous!

Bram (Stoker!) Something very mysterious about this Tom, expecting to see a vampire or two when that sun goes down πŸ¦‡

Really good job πŸ‘

This is incredible Tom! All of that red scares me (afraid that if I attempt it the red will draw the viewer to all of my mistakes!). Yours however is perfect and gorgeous!

I really like your details. I’ve been at this painting, at least a half dozen times and use it to teach classes, but your details came out really nice and I like your sky

Great colors πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή

Gorgeous Tom! Again... just love your attention to light vs. shadow. It really make the whole difference in the world. I will check this video out. Wanna learn how to make those evergreens with a filbert.

Top painting Tom, looks absolutely great, cheers

Bold and daring I love it!

Many thanks Sandy!

Thanks you Nivek. I think the red sky and the light/dark contrast create the mood here. Glad you like it.

Thanks Brian. Don't let anything scare you. Painting should be fun :)

Thank you Rucifi. As mentioned I am influenced by Bill Alexander very much and I use a lot of elements I learned from him in my paintings.

Thanks Dirk.

Thank you Nancy. It is the main focus now in my paintings: Light against dark. Shadow versus Highlight etc... This is something I learned mainly from Bill. Also Buck Paulson cares a lot about this.
In my opinion this is more important than any details. But everyone has its own preference in art.

Thank you Dave!

Many thanks Laura!
