New painting from last weekend. This is based on the 1-hour tutorial ‚Mountain Lake‘ by Bill.
Though I followed the basic idea of it I changed several parts, especially the far side of the lake. Whereas Bill put bushes there which hang into the water I couldn’t resist to put in an old house there. It has been overtaken by the bushes already.
I like to put in houses at lonely places, one of my favorite topics!
Overall for sure a mainstream scene here. Mountains and evergreens are always popular. The layers of trees are very nice here. I wonder that no one ever tries this episode by Bill.
Took me 4 hours including washing the brushes.
Oils on canvas panel, large size 24 x 32 in (60 x 80 cm)
Thanks Jos, indeed a very nice episode.
This came out really great love the mountains and left trees
Ne glatte 1+, Tom , Super implemented 👍🏼🇩🇪🇦🇹
Thank you Rucifi!
Danke Dirk. Grüße nach DE!
Gorgeous Tom! Def in my top 5 of your repertoire! I love how you always play with the lighting on some areas. It gives the painting so much more realism and dimension! Love the old house! Love this one! 🥰
Thanks Nancy, playing with light is something I learned from Bill. He cares a lot about light. Today I feel I would like to move to that house, no connection to Internet and anything with IT...
I am glad you like it!
Really beautiful and such great details! Love the old house!
Thanks a lot Sandy, I also think the house fits well here.
Amazing Tom! The background layers build up very well. Not only in depth but also very literally in height
Thanks Marc. I put a lot of effort into the layers. I think it payed.
Absolutely it did!
Super Tom
@Marc: Could be somewhere in the Austrian Alps as well :)
Thanks a lot Matt!
Your work looks more like Bill's every day!
Thanks Tomi, I hope this is a positive thing :D I really like Bill a lot, because he is gives me a lot of motivation to do paintings in a smooth and fast way without always doing the same thing.
Believe it or not, if I saw first episodes by him I could never imagine to paint along with him, but later on I really started to like him and his approach to do paintings (more loose, more carrying about artistic stuff like color harmony or lightning. etc...)
this is captivating! the first thing that caught my attention was the texture of the highlights, really the texture overall. To me, it has a slightly more realistic feel than a Ross piece. I really love the colors of the evergreens on the left and the smooth shift from highlight to dark. House was a stroke of genius. I hope to crank out something like this some day!
Thanks Jeff, I am glad you like it.
I think you can do such paintings without any issue, I have seen your work and you are a fantastic painter.
what a compliment, thank you my friend. right back at you.
Thank you Jeff :)
