Moonlight Mirage - Bill Alexander

Tom0779 14 Oct 2024

An other one from the book ‚The Art of Bill Alexander and Robert Warren, Series 12‘.
This is one of my personal favorites by Bill, although it might be too dark for most people.
I took this one as an inspiration for an own designed version ‚Cabins at Moonlight‘, which I posted last year.
I like the idea to show only a part of the moon 🌙, normally only the full moon 🌕 is shown. There are no highlights on the trees on purpose. The strong contrast is something I always aim. The bridge is a funny thing here. I tried to make it like Bill did.
Only 4 colors used here, Prussian blue, alizarin crimson, titanium white and ivory black. A very straight forward episode.

I love nocturn paintings so this is right up my street. Love that you didn't highlight the trees. It's very beautiful.

This is just gorgeous! It's like your style is perfectly meant for painting Bill Alexander paintings! You always nail them. I love this deep blue.

I really enjoy your style.

Danke Dirk, freut mich, dass es gefällt!

Thanks Jos, maybe you can find the episode somewhere. It hasn’t been published yet on YouTube.

Thanks Pietro!

Many thanks Sandy!

Thanks Nancy!

Thank You Cold!

Thank you Landscapepainter. I too like such scenes. I did a similar one with highlights and I always regretted that. It looks much better without in my opinion.

Thanks Brian, my Columbo friend 😀

Thank you Kerri!

Thanks Pam. Its no secret that I prefer the approach of Bill. I like his loose and rough style. And he is very fast, that fits me too. I just have very limited time and I want to paint regularly with a result which pleases me. All that I can get from Bill.

Thank you Colin, glad you like my work.
