From an initial look the scene looks like the standard mountain - evergreen - water painting.
But after a close look I think itโs very different. Starting from an unusual mauve and orange hue in the sky. I like this combination.
Additionally there is a lot of knife work in this painting and only a little brush work. This gives it a kind of a semi abstract feeling. I really like that.
In the foreground there is also a lot of knife work done. I like how Bill fires that knife right onto the canvas to create the weeds in the front.
Next time I think I use a mixture of cad yellow and cad red to create a more interesting orange instead of permanent orange only.
I wished I had put a little house in there, looks like a good place to live at :)
This is oils on canvas panel 16 x 20 in. (40 x 50 cm)
I really love that sky! Quite different than Bobโs. Totally love the way you made that tall grass in the foreground right corner. Was that made with a knife? That dead tree/trunk simply gorgeous. Again Tom, another beautiful masterpiece!!
Thanks a ton Dirk. I love Bill. I think he was a great artist and I love to FIRE IN :) I am always glad to hear from you. Best wishes to NRW, I hope you have better weather than we have. Very stormy here.
Thanks Nancy, always glad to hear from you. Yeah it is different, Bill often uses Mauve and orange, (alone or in combination), some colors which I really like. And also the bid knife part is very different from what Bob normally does.
Haha, let you surprise and watch the tutorial how this grass is made, I can only tell you, this is really FIRE IN, ;)
Hey Tom es regnet ohne Ende und kalt bin in Dortmund. at work ๐Rain , cold but no Storm
Sturm finde ich unangenehm - hoffentlich morgen wieder besser. Tomorrow painting again in the garage, hope it is a bit warmer :)
Another winner Tom, I agree wit you on the living there part, A small shack and a boat and I'll be in heaven, can almost feel the fresh breeze on my face as I row through the water ๐๐
Very nice Tom. I too like that color sky combination
Oh I will def watch it. You got me curious now!!!
Many thanks Nivek, I think next time I will put a little house in :)
Thanks Matt. I really like my Mauve oil paint. I will definitely do a lot of other stuff with this color too.
Yeah Nancy it is fire in pure. Bill did this a lot in his earlier shows. Rarely in the later ones. :)
Hey Tom a question to Bills Mountain technique . Ich muss das mal auf deutsch sagen , sorry . Die ist doch sehr different zu Bobs oder sehe ich das falsch? Different technique ?
Yes Dirk you are absolutely right. Whereas Bob is using long strokes for the highlights on the mountains, Bill always makes them with more and smaller strokes.
Thanks , i Think there is also a different in the consistency of the Paint to Highlight the Mountains , correct?
Tough one Dirk. Bill varies the technique a lot whereas Bob primary uses the same. I have seen bill thinning the highlight color a bit. And I have also seen he did not. Sometimes I really think he is always in control whatever might happen.
Thanks a lot Tom ๐๐ผ
Anytime Dirk!
