As per my subjective feeling that episode by Buck belongs to the three most difficult oil paintings I did until yet.
I never would say a painting is difficult because I spend a lot of time with it or there are a lot of different things going on. This one is difficult to get it look right. I tried to really go smoothly from the vignette over parts blended softly until the clear and crisp parts in the middle. Believe it or not this requires a lot of thinking also the light and dark contrast mustnโt be lost due to blending.
I think this is a picture I am really proud to have it finished although it is for sure not my very best work.
Oils on a primed (orange plus a touch of green acrylic) canvas panel 16 x 20 in (40 x 50 cm)
The crashing wave is awesome and I love the reds and oranges, the vignette effect looks great!
OMG Tom!! IMHO, itโs one if your best hands down. I can see the level of difficulty. You brought this painting to another level. Well done my friend!
So awesome! Most gorgeous painting...love the colors and your details!
This looks amazing, really like the colors you got here and the way these waves crash. Great job!!
Beautiful Tom. You really did a wonderful job.
You really did a lovely job on this one! I have seen the video of this. It looks like much looser strokes in this one for you, and I feel like you had a good flow when painting this! Just wonderful colors. The vignette is done very well (as you said it is difficult to achieve the desired effects)! Do you have a Bob Ross blending brush?
Very good Tom
Great Color compo, very nice Tom๐๐ผ๐ฉ๐ช๐ฆ๐นnice Weekend
Thank you Jos. Definitely a tough one. Buck makes it look so easy.
Thank you Brian. I have practiced the splashing water.
Thank you Nancy. I think the picture is ok, but I think I did better works already. Though I tried my best.
Thank you Sandy.
Thank you Jim. As mentioned I did practice the splashes.
Thank you Tomi. Iโm glad you like it.
Thank you Pam. I know you see the essential ๐ thus I am glad you liked it.
I do have a Ross Blender brush but do not use it any more. It got stiff with time and it is too big for my taste.
I use a 1 inch flat goat hair brush. Extremely cheap one but it works much better for me.
Many thanks Cold!
Thank you Dirk. Currently I am not painting but enjoying summer vacation ๐ have a great time!

Great work Tom, the highlights in the middle and the splashes looks so well, I agree it was a difficult one!
