An other tutorial from ‚The magic of oil painting‘ book by Bill. There will now follow a lot more. If anyone is interested please let me know, I can send you the instructions.
This is my favorite painting topic, light versus dark contrast. I absolutely love to paint very dark against light. And I like sunset skies a la Bill. Recently someone said he couldn’t get the trees dark enough. Try Prussian blue mixed with alizarin crimson. These colors make a very dark one. Those trees here are painted with them.
Again I try to be more loose with oils.
It is oils on canvas panel 16 x 24 in (40 x 60 cm)
This is so very beautiful! Love the colors!
Beautiful Tom. I would like the instructions. Tomiwilson518@gmail.com. Thanks!

Thank you Lc!
@BobSmith: I only have written instructions out of a book. It shows the finished painting and two sides of written steps. I can send you photos of these three sides.
Sorry I have no video tutorials
Thank you Nancy!
Thank you Jim, the trees are made like Bill does them.
Many thanks Matt!
Thank you Dirk. Happy weekend for you too!
The original photo doesn’t reflect the real colors, so I added a second one made right after I finished it.
