Original Creation

Crystal Magic - Bill Alexander

Tom0779 02 Sep 2024

I searched for a winter scene and discovered that one at Billβ€˜s YouTube channel. Even I normally only paint after book instructions, i.e. I normally only check the same roughly which means especially the color scheme, I did not have the written instructions of this available.
So this was the first time since more than 1 year I painted a picture in oils using a video tutorial.
The episode caught my attention because of the nice color scheme (in my opinion) used. Only 4 colors in total are used: Titanium White, Phtalo Blue (Bill does not mention the blue he uses, but to me Phtalo is nicer for this scene), Mauve (or Violett) and Ivory Black.
I like the strong contrasts this painting suggests and I hope I could bring it out too. Overall it is not a very complex scene but I think a real eye catcher because of the colors. I am surprised that this episode only had been posted once here until yet.
It is oils on canvas panel 16 x 24 inches (40 x 60 cm)

Magical painting!

Beautiful!!

Gorgeous contrast here and I really like the broken tree trunk you painted!

WOW! This is so beautiful Tom! I really love all the blue hues. Your road perspective is so perfect. Another one that I am bookmarking.

Thank you Jos. I never compare the TV painted ones with mine. If I would paint this in 25 minutes it would be a mess :)

Thanks Brian, glad you like it!

Danke Dirk!

Many thanks Sandy, as always!

Thank you Lc!

Thank you Kerri. It was indeed the contrast of this painting which caught my attention. I like paintings with strong contrasts.

Thanks Nancy. I plan to paint several Bob episodes in more Bill style. What about you trying Bill episodes in Bob style ... Just an idea :)

Gorgeous, beautiful job

Many thanks Coldethel.
