My painting from last weekend. I had bought some cadmium orange recently and this was the perfect picture to use itπ I love that orange, it is more intense than permanent orange.
A super episode by Bill if you want to practice with the knife, almost everything is done with it.
I like the colors orange against blue, this is one of the bmy favorite color combination.
Also I like those minimalistic paintings Bill does. They all transport a certain mood.
I hope you like it.
Oils on canvas panel 16 x 24 in (40 x 60 cm). Painting time 70 minutes.
Thank you Jos. I thought I already suggest this to you during the description :)
Really beautiful! Love your knifework!

Thank you Jessie!
Oooooohhhhh! I loooooove this one Tom! πππ The color combo like you mention is so eye candy!
Many thanks Nancy. Yes orange against blue is sooooo beautiful :)
Tom, questione, did you use PT or PR blue?
Hello Jos, I used phtalo. From what I have seen it was this blue Bill used.
Thanks Tom, never mentioned in the tutorial, Bill spoke only about blue.
You are right Jos, but I assumed it. First it looks like phtalo and he calls it happy blue which he never does with Prussian. At the end of the day I think it is not so important, you can also use ultramarine or cobalt blue π
I just wanted to know what you did. I painted it today but I don't like it and will not upload it, Bill uses three higlight colors: tw+ac, tw+blue and finally just tw and it became a mess and it's a bit a boring scene, no trees, no cabins, unbelievable how you get it so well.
Yes the composition is like the title says: beyond the arctic circleβ¦π I feel honored if you say it looks nice. I use an extremely firm white for mountains, it helps me a lot.
What is the brand of the white paint you use? Bill's white was also firm haha, he wanted to eat it!
I use German brand Lukas1862. The titanium white is much firmer then other brands I know. I use this white only for mountains, paths or tree trunks or water highlights.
Oh, is that white from Lukas 1862 so thick? I use Lukas Studio for most colors (cheap, 11 EUR for 200 ml tube), but white from Winton.
Well not sure if they have a cheap line, the one I use, see the picture I added, is very firm in titanium white. It is about 7 euros for 37 ml.
Ok thanks Tom, think I try that, but one more question: did you also do all three highlights (tw-ac, tw-ptb and only tw) as Bill did, I don't see the tw-ac color in your mountains?
No I don't think I added all the layers there, I found this is too much color on the sunny side. I remember I added something but for sure not all.
Beautiful job Tom.
Many thanks Tony!
