So, when I read about this event, it made me think of my very first experiments with oil paints, way back in the second half of the 90's.
I decided to post them here, since I did not have time to paint anything more elaborate.
I made the small canvasses by glueing cotton onto plywood.
I then put a couple of layers of gesso on them, the same way I always do when stretching cotton.
Then I just painted. Just oil paints, no medium or anything. Wet-on-wet.
And I took what I had laying about in my kitchen.
I mounted the finished paintings onto pieces of plywood.
Even though they turned out rather well, I didn't think oil was my medium.
And now I've been using oils for more than 3 years. Imagine that... LOL!
Well, whatever medium you like, little studies like this are very educational.
Whether to practice shapes, lighting, the medium or...
Terrific study! I also like the garlic clove a lot with its warm and cool tones. Also the cut open bell pepper is great with its fleshy stuff + seeds!
Thanks Felix and flippergirlpaints. ❤️
It's fun to see my old stuff again from time to time.
I love it beautiful for the kitchen, i would buy this.
Great job!
It certainly hits the brief! My favourite is the solitary partially used red pepper, looks just like the one that's always lurking in my fridge.
Really nice work Titia

Fantastic! The little overhang of the garlic's skin is great!
