"Sunset Meadow"
July 1, 2022
Oil on canvas
45x80cm
My first attempt at doing some more elaborate clouds.
I did use the wet-on-wet technique and I was very worried about the sky where the yellowish colours meet the blueish sky. But it worked out fine.
Also because the yellow isn't all that yellow but more towards peach/orange and the blue also has a tiny bit of red in it.
You can't see it on this photograph, but the meadow has a rather bright purple as base colour. It shows through the grassy stuff here and there, providing some contrast and a connection with the purple in the sky.
It is based on a photograph I took.
I've added some WIP images of the painting as well.
And yes, I did use masking tape to keep the horizon straight. LOL!
amazing work. the clouds are the feature here but I love the work on the small tress off in the distance. great stuff.
Fantastic! Maybe you could shows a work in progress pic of the meadow base color when you paint something like that again? Looks great
Thank you for the compliments! <3
@Felix:
I've added some WIP images of the painting. Turns out I did not take a picture when I still only had the base colour on the meadow, but you can see a bit of the purple in the third one.
Wow so beautiful and the clouds are perfection!
Fantastic!
this will put a happy buck in your pocket no doubt, just gorgeous. This really reminds me of where I live in the Dakota plains. I can hear the crickets through the screen!
Awesome picture T!
I am loving your originals! Terrific sky with a lot of depth. Very photo realistic!
