Oil on canvas
80x50cm (31.5 x 19.7 inch)
This one took me a while to finish... started it last winter and only finished it now.
Believe it or not, but I painted the entire ground with a number 4 ox hair "cat tongue" brush. Don't ask why... but it worked and it felt right at that time. LOL
It is based on a photograph I found on the internet.
Thank you. <3
Beautiful Titia. Can't imagine how long it took to paint the grass.
Did you gesso the background?
Did you do multiple layers and let dry? Or wet on wet for the whole thing, Bob Ross style?
@indicationofart:
4 or 5 hours with that little brush. LOL!
But it did allow me to get all those colours and that texture in there. :)
@BobSmith:
White gesso and then I sort of sketched the scene onto the canvas with thinned down oil paint. (used paintthinner to thin it). Once it dried I started working with thicker paint, starting with the background trees, and working my way forward. Then the forest floor and finally the larger trees in the front.
So I did not use the Bob Ross wet-on-wet techniques for this one.
All was done with smaller brushes, like the number 4 cat tongue.
Beautiful work!
Lovely, so serene 👏
I am in love with this compo Titia! That light green is one of my fav colors. The ground is so beautiful, your trees are sublime. I would def hang this one!
Lovely! Such beautiful greens and an atmosphere of stillness. I keep staring waaayyy down the path.
Thank you Cronenberg, Nivek and ninoum. <3
And thank you flippergirlpaints.
I'm glad to hear I managed to give it depth. That was kinda hard to do with the fog and the close-by sort of hill in the foreground.
