I was looking at this episode for 2 months without having gut to actually go and paint it. My final inspiration was Voy Kay's version and he did such an awesome job on it and I remembered this view in my head right away. Wonderful view from Thailand with boat modification to the easier side. It took a bit of preparation started with finding the photos to follow the colors in the sea, also as this requires perspective and obtaining this turquoise color, I premixed few various shades. I had to pencil it first and even used ruler to build the perspective. I will be painting sea scenery tomorrow again so I have preserved all my mixed paints for tomorrow's challenge.
Thank you Voy Kay! I am so grateful for your support and encouragement. This painting took a lot of energy. Water was the most difficult. Tomorrow I'll be copying a painting by following instructor online. The style is not Bob Ross at all, but i guess I'll post it for a while and then remove. I find that all the different variations of blue and emerald color are a nightmare for me. I think something is wrong with my vision of the blue and this is what gives me a struggle. But I'll learn one day how to handle it and turn into advantage in the painting. You are amazing at supporting other people. Thank you for being there for this entire community!
Happily smiling here now! Looking at an already heartwarming weekend now!!
I will try to help you with that water, I think I might know a possible solution to it. Give me some time, and I will post it here. Pity you are not in Belgium and I am not in Texas (was there in 2012 though!) or we could sit together and work on things! :) Have a great weekend!
I think your version has much more impact than the original. Excellent control over the colors and values on the boat. You are on a roll!
This is amazing!!! I have also been to Krabi, Thailand and I recognized it as soon as I saw this---absolutely stunning and it evokes the place perfectly, right down to the boat.
Thank you very much my dear friends for your support and for your kind words!
This look fantastic. You really nailed the color of the water at different depths. Overall, great work!
Thank you, lightsnow. Water was challenging, I could not reach enough transparency, so it looks deeper than I wanted. But I am happy with the result. First time at all I used zink white and phtalo green for close water. I hope this mix will not fade or crack with time. I would like this one survived for 10 years.
You made the water look so clear and inviting. I love the shadow of the boat. This almost makes me want to try your iteration of the painting over the original!
GMRII thank you very much! I feel that water is a bit deeper than I wanted. I am very happy you like my painting. Here is the link to the original picture that will give you more details about the colors.

True beauty Sunnylady!! What a superb idea to put Koh Poda Beach in Krabi, Thaïland in this picture. The boat even resembles a Thaï longtail boat. Its finish is just excellent! You did great with the water colours as well, looking forward to tomorrows endeavour!
