I decided to take a long 6 months class in composition with 70 lessons in total.
First homework. Please see other ones attached here as well.
these are really fun, what an cool exercise in thinking about shapes, line and focal points in a minimalist sense. These all turned out great.
What was the instruction for this homework?
The instruction was to create static composition or dynamic using triangles, circles and squares with collage techniques by moving the objects around and attempting to create balance or intentionally breaking it. This is made of paper cut to different shapes and also hand painted to add different texture. No color. Just black and white pretty much.
Colin, symmetrical I see as application in architecture more rather than painting, but many of the new buildings are not symmetrical at all and look very stylish. I will have architecture lessons as well. Will see how it goes :) I hope to reach those within 6 month subscription that I bought. Each homework progressively takes more hours. Second home work took me 3 hours. Next I expect will be the same. But all this time is really good practice and breaking my own limits. I try to embrace this challenge.
Jeffth, you are right. I initially thought it was a boring exercise. But when I started I got adsorbed into it. And it is so fast to move paper cuts around that unintentionally you turn on the brain for a challenge and start experimenting. True creativity awakes with this exercise. Please try it at home. You even can glue the most successful ones and frame. Easy peasy art :)

Great work. I prefer the none-symmetrical images. Sign of my disordered mind obviously 8-)
