Ooooh! How beautyful!! Sunnylady, you created something wonderful.
Another gorgeous boat/sea painting. Beautiful to look at but I wouldn’t want to be on that boat. I feel a little sick just thinking about how they must be feeling.
I’m shocked that there’s orange and red and rose in here somewhere. I wouldn’t have guessed! Thanks for showing us the colors/tools. That’s a great idea even just documenting for our own use. Sometimes I want to go back and continue the painting wrapped around the side of the canvas but I can’t remember what I used before.
This is beautiful, I love everything about it, the mood lighting, the feel of the wind on my back, I can almost taste the salty air and that ship with its almost ghost like sails is just wonderful. This would look great on my wall 😁
Admiral Sunnylady, you have done it again! Soon you will rule over the seven world seas with your stunning creations.
You had yet again a very successful attempt at Dmitry Rosa's amazing work. I wonder where the title came from?
As no other, you mastered capturing the light in the distance and bring it up forward. The sun catches your eye at first, then taken over by the immaculate wave that puts a great accent on the boat.
Although this is only a momentum in time and space, one can feel the never ending movement of the sea, that wind in the sails and the warmth from that cloudbreaking sun.
Warmest applauds to you, admiral, from ship buddy third class, Voy
@Boja - thanks a lot! you should try, this is quite rewarding process. It turns out i like to blend paints, this technique is all about blending.
@Hado - thank you very much! I was extremely happy to paint after two weeks break. I think it shows a lot in the painting.
Awesome. The movement of the waves and the slanted ship is perfect. Very nice.
@Tom - I shared the link in the addition and reference painting. I wish I could do it from the head/imagination Tom, but to do that I would need to have lived by sea for 30 years... I never lived by the sea that is why only video tutorials :)
@Lilikins - Both red and rose were mixed with Prussian blue to create dark purple around and create darkness.
Hint: phtalo green and alizarin or that rose give wonderful calm purple tones, they are beautiful for shadows.
@lilikins - thanks for your wonderful kindness and also thinking about those poor lads on the boat.
@Nivek - I wish you would live in Russia and we could all gather up together with this nice community, paint together and exchange experience and paintings! Thanks for this wonderful description I am so happy you could taste the salty air just looking at it!
@Voy - you know my husband sometimes call me Colonel... because of my strong Russian accent. Now I have one more rank! At least related to the other strong side of me:)
About the name: there is a proverb "red night as night - sailors delight; red sea in the morning - sailors get warning".
Honestly it took 4 hours because I changed colors from the video tutorial. I think If I sticked to original it would be way faster as I would not need to think 3 times what colors to mix and how not to kill color by making it calmer.
@LJMpaintings - thank you so very much for visiting , I am super happy to see you and read your comments.
The foam on the vawes looks amazing. Love the cold colors. Despite the big vawe the painting gives me a feeling of a quiet cool night...
Spectacular! What wonderful lighting coming through the salt air. Your seascapes are breathtaking; I think you might consider approaching art galleries if you keep on this path. Really great job!
Well, what can you say that hasn't already been said. In every aspect of this painting you have created another masterpiece. Congratulations!!
@Umagaan thank you! May be in your world this storm just ended and moon already showed up and that is last big wave. Sailors on the ship came to cheer up they survived.
@dracula - thank you very much! I went to the few galleries last summer to check the market, one gallery might take my seascapes I think. The others are too fancy and they are booked for artists who belong to the artists association with proper education and so on.
Great ship!
@Umagaan - thank you very much. I am very glad many people like it as this is some experimentation involved with color. Please enjoy!
@RKGal- thanks!
What a fantastic piece!!! The power of the waves tossing that little ship around is conveyed perfectly!
@Boof - thank you very much! I am very happy you see the power of that wave!
This is so beautiful! The sky and water are stunning.
@ForestVueGallery- Thank you very much !
lovely painting .. I must have another go, left it for quite a while now ...but amazing job
@DavidF -I am glad you are back! You were missed. I was wondering if you continued painting and just stopped posting. looking forward for your next painting!
Hi sunny lady , I haven't painted anything for quite a while, been locked down looking after my elderly mother and painting stuff is at my home. But in the interim I have written a couple of apps including a diamond painting app using what I learnt from trying to paint. I will have another go at pianting once I get sorted and out of lockdown. Enjoying visiting the site and seeing all the amazing work people are doing ... maybe I should start by finishing the paintings I did !! I just had a look at mine and most aren't finished :) ..Happy painting.
Is it possible you could ship your painting stuff and you can paint with your mother. Having a buddy to paint with is greatest fun.
Sunnylady - this is my favourite of your seascapes. Fantastic sky and the light throughout shows exceptional skill. Just wonderful :)
@rah: Happy you love it! I was inspired by Kuindzhi art work “moon light over Dnepr river” and wanted to attempt creating the glow. I like how it turned out with this bright greens!
SunnyLasy. Such a Beauty again. I love your sky's . Your ships with sails are great!
@Hado - thank you very much for your kindness! I am very happy you liked it!
