Springtime Thaw

ShadowscarsDragon 18 Aug 2021

This is my entry for the August Reddit contest, which required us to make our version of Springtime Thaw from Nic Hankins, Bob Ross Instructor. There were many challenges. I’m currently on vacation back in my hometown, which means I only have limited supplies, not all my paints, brushes, etc. I had some technical issues with a damaged fan brush, and didn’t have replacements. Had to wash brushes too often, in a less than optimal washing container (a reused salsa jar with a metal mesh). Highlights are from the left on this painting, making this harder for a right handed person such as myself.

In the end, as it is in life, the greatest challenges make you grow the most. This is, I believe, my greatest painting to date. I am really, really happy with it. It’s a shame I can’t bring it home, since it needs to cure some weeks before it is transported, but my parents will have the pleasure of having it embelish their home.

Well you did a great job all the way around here.

Excellent painting! My old favorite of yours was your second "falls in the glen", but you have outdone yourself with this one.

Masterfully done! The trees are particularly well done but it is all fabulous.

Truly outstanding.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Flippergirlpaints, I feel honored that you have a “favorite” painting of mine, and even more that it’s been replaced by this one!
