Mom’s Oil Lamp • Robert Warren

Ninoum 25 Apr 2024

When I saw this painting, I found it so intriguing that I had to paint it. I was baffled with the bottom of the curtains and the oil lamp. Such a simple scene but so interesting and warm. 😊

Holy smokes N! Awesome 👏 ✌️

Bonjour my friend, Absolutely brilliant. It looks so realistic, great👍🏼🇩🇪

Blimey, this is superb! The work on the lamp is truly gorgeous. Wish I could paint glass like that. Wow.

Oh wow! Great work.

Looking very good!
Shapes are good (rounded shapes are difficult) and I love the colours.

I like how there's a bit of a blueish hue in the part of the curtains that is in the shadows.
It is something the Impressionists did a lot (and tended to exaggerate with good results imho): use a bit of a contrasting colour for shadows.
And, as one of my art teachers once said "A white wall isn't white." And it really isn't. There are reflected colours everywhere. And that is not just the case on a white wall.

Almost perfect Nancy, really wonderful, I was only missing the glasses on the book :-)

Absolutely perfect!! From the lamp to the curtains amazing work!

Oh wow! So realistic! Excellent job!

A really perfect painting....so realistic!

Sheesh, unbelievably perfect.

Thank you so much B! 🥰

Thank bunchy my super friend! 🇩🇪😊

Many thx TLP! 😃 The truth is that you can paint glass! The thing is there that there is barely any painting to create that glass effect. It's only at specific spots.

Thank you much Yucel! 😃

I really appreciate that Titia! I couldn't agree more about the reflective (blueish) light.

Thank you bunches Elsie. 😊

Many thx Bob! ☀️

Glad you like Sandy! Thanks you much! 🤗

Thank you very much Jos! And you are soooo right, 👓 would be really appropriate on the book!

Awwww! Thank you so much Dee! 😀

A++ work! I really like the curtains, the table shading, and that book!

Hi Nancy. I haven’t been here for ages. This is fabulous. The lace is extraordinary. Beautifully done.

Barbara!!! So good to hear from you!! It has been a while. Thank you so! 😊 The secret for the lace is to use a doily as a template! 😉
