I wanted to create something fun to paint and that wouldn’t take me too long. Few days ago, I thought of fireflies. Most of you know how much I love painting “glows”. It gives so much atmosphere! It had to be part of this cute scene. I added a small bridge just in case one of us would like to cross over the creek. 😉

I decided to take off some lighting bugs. Looking at it this morning, I thought there were too many. Also, taking the picture in daylight, the colors really pop better. 😊

Question about the fireflies:
Did you do each one, one at a time with a tiny tool? Like, q-tip daubing for the aura, and then a little pinpoint dot with a toothpick maybe? I'm curious if there's another method beyond one-at-a-time. Also, was the painting touch-dry before doing them? I can't imagine how you could remove some and then retouch so seamlessly otherwise.
I wish there was a video tutorial for this one! I really like it.

For the outer glow of the lighting bugs, I used a #6 brush called "Round blender" (see picture attached). I got it at Michael's. A Q-tip can def do the trick. And yes, for the closest fireflies, I used a script liner and put a dot in the center (a couple shades lighter than the paint from the outer glow). Let me know if you have more questions.
