After so many landscapes, I wanted to do a floral since the technique is quite different. I didn’t want to lose my touch. I picked this one because of the unique design of the amaryllis with the red edge petals representing Bob’s red signature color. I will let you read the story of this beautiful flower (see picture attached).
I gotta say, when you don’t use it, you lose it. I struggled for most of this compo. Plus the book doesn’t offer much of the details I really needed. But it came back little by little as I was progressing into it.
Gorgeous!
Beautiful. I love the effect of the frame showing through the petal and the light reflection on the pot.
They certainly are different aren't they. You have a hint of transparency on the tip of that petal on the right hand side. For me that's the mark of a good floral. Beautifully done Nin, and I love the pot.
Thank you so much Don! It took me 3 days to complete this one. It should have been done in 1 day. But I really appreciate your comment. 😊
Thank you much Kerri! 😃
Thank you super much Colin! I realized that I should have left some white where the petals were being superposed on the black frame after doing the right one. So I took some white gesso and filled up the other ones since they were t done at that point. That the reason why you don’t see it thru the other ones. I really appreciate your comment.🤗
Many thanks TLP! 🥰 They are super different. The Bob Ross technique is the complete opposite to the landscape. We go from thin to thick paint!!!!
More transparency should have been seen from the other petals landing on the black frame. See the comment above that I wrote for Colin.
The pot was a goody to execute. Tho, I always love a good challenge!
Super flowers, great colors,Nancy👍🏼🇩🇪
Gorgeous!
Wow the bowl is good!
The painting is beautiful (the bowl is fantastic), the subject very controversial: Annette Kowalski painting a Bob Ross memorial flower, unbelievable if you know what happened when Bob died.
Very super primo good N👍✌️
Beautiful! The bowl and the light on it are sublime. I love the subtle tones in the flowers. Wonderful.
Thank you my friend! 🇩🇪❤️
Thank you very much Sandy! 😃
Thank you bunches Felix! The bowl was a real treat to paint.
Thank you very much Jos! 😊
After spending much time at the Bob Ross Workshop & Gallery for all the workshops I did this year, I can tell a different story from the one you have heard about Bob Ross, his son and the Kowalski. I have seen proof of the succession papers of Bob’s estate, and more. The Netflix documentary is flawed on many aspects. Annette was the 3rd listed on the succession after Bob’s brother & wife. They did not want to have any part of it so Annette was the one left in charge of keeping Bob Ross’s legacy going.
Remember Jos, there are always 2 sides of a story. The Kowalski did not want to respond to the documentary because it would have created a war that Bob would never have wanted to. The best way to go about the untruthful documentary was to say nothing and let time go by to apaise the situation. Do believe that they have much to tell and it could decimate the reputations and careers of many. They chose otherwise. It was a very wise decision from their part imho.
Nic & Ada received serious threats when that documentary came out. They had to take their son out of day care and close the workshop & gallery for 2 weeks. They had to leave town until things were back to a safe standing.
It’s unfortunate what happened to Steve but he refused (more than once) to take his dad spot when Bob wanted him to continue the legacy. Years later, Steve came back to claim his place but it was too late then.
Annette and Walter were in excellent standing with Bob at the time of his passing (to the opposite statement made in the movie). “The Bob Ross Amaryllis” is therefore more than appropriate for Annette to share it at Bob’s memorial.
I could continue to debunk that documentary. But that’s not my place to do so. I just wanted to share with you a different side to that story.
The bowl design and glaze is amazing N! I had to revisit this one. lol 😂
Thank you so so much B!! The bowl makes this painting next level for sure. I am flattered you had to revisit the painting! Means a lot! 🫶🏼
Many thanks Barbara! 😊
Great flower, Nancy! ❤️
And apparently a bunch of Dutch guys gave the flower its name.
Also, thank you for sharing that other side of the story. ❤️
