🎉 My very 1st “none Bob Ross” painting!!! I am happy with it.
I used all the techniques, tips and tricks that Bob has been teaching thru out my 51 paintings with his videos and books.
I also wanted to enter the Holiday event! 😬
Thank you Brian! I was so nervous trying something with no tutorial to follow. I think it a confidence booster to do paintings where you are “your own Bob Ross”! Lol!
Gorgeous colors. Lots of good details. Well done.
Thank you H! My next original painting will be greater. We get better at each painting!
This is my favorite of all your paintings. A+++ for composition.
Awww!!! 🥰 Thank you so much Tony! It means a lot!
Beautiful road n trees Hado.Happy New Year!
Looks like a great path to walk down and explore you could turn this in to a series, I love it! Great job.
Oh Nancy, this is just so beautiful! A PERFECT autumn blue sky, and so many foliage colors! Love the composition and light/shadows. There are soooooo many layers in that forest - congrats on no mud mixing! must have been a challenge for sure.
Thank you so much Pietro! 😊 Happy new year to you as well!
Many thanks Sherina! You got a great idea going here! I think I will turn this into a series! I really appreciate the idea! Happy new year!
Thank you so much Pam! The biggest challenge was to figure out the prepping (I had to do a gesso prep and almost forgot) and all the layering order. I was concern about mud mixing where my grassy/dead leaves meet the path. I had to be very careful. Happy new year my TIB friend!
Wonderful!
You mentioned gesso and layering. Can you tell me about that and how you got such incredible depth in the painting? I’d like to try this myself. Thanks!
Thank you Brian (Cronenberg89)! 😊
Except for the pure blue part of the sky, I use gesso and a sponge to do my prepping. All the tree tops had just a light sponged gesso on that part. Below that, I sponged darker and darker (ombre style) till about 1/3 down. From there, the canvas was covered completely with black gesso.
Give it a shot, I really makes it easier and give more depth like you mentioned.
Did you use liquid clear over everything? If not, then what? This sort of reminds me of a really good version of Bob’s first show, where he does “a walk in the woods “. Like how it SHOULD have looked. Just my opinion.
I totally forgot to mention those important details.
I use liquid clear on the gesso from the top of the trees all the way down. The top (sky and left part of the top trees) were covered with liquid white. Tho, if I had thought more carefully about my prep, I would have done a blue gesso sky, then my sponge work with black gesso. This way I could have covered my whole canvas with liquid clear only. I would have saved a step and some liquid white.
Very well done. What an exciting and warm painting. This makes me miss autumn very much. The winters here are quite long and cold. Nice work!
Ninoum..lol..i just noticed I wrote Hado..your both such great masters..i got u two confused..Cheers.P
Haha! I did the same to Brian… called him Sandy! 😂
I just saw you comment LightSnow! Thank you so much. I hear you about the long winters. I am from Québec. The winters are quite long and brutal. I have been living in Florida for 22 years now. I do miss the fall colors and the snow for Christmas but that’s about it.
Although a bit abstract, quite a WOW painting for me and you have my vote!
Thank you so much Voy Kay! It means a lot! ☺️

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love how you made the light play through the trees in the shadows on the path. Just beautiful!
