The Armistice, signed on 11th November 1918, was the agreement between the Allies and Germany, which marked the end of World War I. The Armistice Day symbolized a significant moment of peace after years of devastating war. It is commemorated annually in many countries to honor those who served and died in the war, with ceremonies often including moments of silence. It was signed in the Compiègne Wagon, located in the forest of Compiègne in France.
The Compiègne Wagon is historic railway carriage where the Armistice was signed, ending World War I. It served as the meeting place between the Allies and German representatives. It soon became a symbol of peace and Allied victory. In 1940, Adolf Hitler used it to stage France’s surrender to Nazi Germany during World War II. The original wagon was destroyed in 1945, but replicas and memorials now commemorate its legacy.
