Milunka Savić (1889 - 1973) was a Serbian war heroine who gained fame for her bravery and combat prowess during World War I. She is celebrated as one of the most decorated female soldiers in the history of warfare. She disguised herself as a man to enlist and fought in several battles, demonstrating exceptional courage and skill.
Her numerous awards include the Order of the Star of Karađorđe with Swords, the French Légion d'Honneur, and the Russian Cross of St. George. Her legacy as a symbol of courage and determination continues to inspire generations, both in Serbia and internationally.
