Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) was a German polymath, poet, playwright, novelist, scientist, and statesman, widely regarded as one of the greatest literary figures in Western history. He was also a central figure in the Sturm und Drang movement and later a proponent of Weimar Classicism.
His contributions extended beyond literature to fields such as philosophy, biology, and color theory. His intellectual legacy profoundly influenced European art, literature, and science.
