My first large 24x36 Japanese style oil painting. I redid some of the mountains several times due to several happy accidents ❤️🩹 The main pic was taken in artificial light in my art studio. The additional pic was outside in natural light. Which do you like better?
Really pretty...Nice job Laura
Oh my. I seriously love this.
Really great work!
Very nice! To me, as a Japanese, it looks more like a Chinese painting than a Japanese one. Japanese painting is greatly influenced by Chinese painting, so the title of your work is not a mistake, and it is a wonderful work.
Very pretty Laura!
Beautiful great job
mmmm..me luvs Asian art.cheers,P
Really nice - I like it.
Great job! I love Japanese art.
Jin7, I would love to speak to you more. What elements would make it more of a Japanese style painting?
Thanks everyone! I really loved painting this one and I’ll be doing many more I’m sure☺️
Great job!
Thank you Laura! i can tell you little about Japanese style painting.
I do not know much about Japanese-style painting,
There are several types of Japanese-style paintings, but what you have painted is a genre of Japanese-style painting called sansui-ga. It originated in China, but many Japanese artists have also painted sansui-ga.
Some Japanese-style paintings are called suiboku-ga (ink painting), which uses only India ink.
Iroe: fine-grained paint, available in 16 different colors. They range from natural to man-made.
Glue: An adhesive used in the distinctive process of Japanese painting.
Brushes and brushes: Select brushes suitable for Japanese painting, such as line brushes and flat brushes.
Plates (as palettes): Plates are used as palettes in Japanese painting.
Paper: Hempen paper is commonly used, such as Kumohada hemp paper or Kochi hemp paper.
There is also a monochromatic ink painting called Suiboku-ga, which is done in black ink.
I love it, very good!
Beautiful.
love this!
I like both, but natural light a bit more as it increases contrast. I think you have a good structural base here and no matter what light it is, even if it will be displayed in a green light it will still work great.
I guess my poor English made my answer a little off the mark.
I think the answer to your question would be easier to understand if you actually see a work of art painted by a Japanese artist.
I think it would be easier to answer your question if you actually look at the works painted by Japanese artists. In particular, Japanese paintings of landscapes, such as Ando Hiroshige's 53 Stages of the Tokaido and Katsushika Hokusai's 36 Views of Mount Fuji, which Van Gogh was influenced by, are the images that Japanese people usually have of Japanese paintings. In recent years, works by Yokoyama Taikan and Higashiyama Kaii are good examples. If you search the Internet, you can easily find works by these artists.
Is this the right answer, LauraKnight?
Thank you, Jin7. Very helpful!
Yay Laura Yay!! I remember you saying you entered this one..I hope you won 🥇 it’s really nice!
I love the first one and love the second one even more with all the subtle shades the sunlight enhances. So pretty.
