Original Creation

From A Galaxy Far, Far Away

KerriG 25 Aug 2024

I followed a Paul Ranson tutorial for this, and it was my first galaxy attempt. A bit outside my comfort zone, as I usually stick to landscapes on Earth :-)
Had just a little window of time to paint, so I chose this as a short study. Will be trying two more in my series of three over the next two weekends to see how I can improve. All will be on 12 X 12 (as that's all I have left in my canvas stash right now). Always fun painting on a black canvas and I enjoyed learning new techniques to create the galaxy, surrounding planets/moons and stars!

Nice try πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

I'm following this same video, I think. It's fun, but harder than I thought it was going to be. I like seeing so many galaxy paintings pop up.

@Jeffth: I agree, it was more difficult to get the desired result. I did some further blending with a cotton bud (was so much easier than using a brush) and got my colors to pop a little more (I attached a second photo here of my edit). It will be interesting to see if I can improve any when I try his next one soon.
