Hello friends, it's been a while for me. I've been working on this one a little at a time for about 3 weeks. This is one of the most spellbinding areas in this game (Elden Ring), and I wanted to make an attempt at recreating it. I had to simplify the man-made structures in this scene as the details were too much for me. One pleasant surprise, the purple (alz crimson and Prussian blue) blends quite well with the burnt umber to create black. This made it so much easier to do the mist that hangs around the base of the cliffs. Getting the 'stars' to look and feel luminescent was the other main challenge. Painted on a canvas notepad.
Don't know the game but this painting is very cool with those high rocks and lightning!
Thank you cold and jos, I'm glad you like it!
This is so cool Jeffeth! Excellent building details and the glow beside your rock is amazing!
Very cool work. Top ππΌπ©πͺ
Great job on the back lighting up top!
Thank you Kerri, I'm a little insecure about the building details so I'm glad you like them.
Thanks Dirk and Pam! I'm glad it looks back lit π
Very cool and beautiful work βοΈ
thank you Brian!
Nice work! I like the contrast between the sharply focused pillars and the surrounding mist.
Thank you Jon!
To everyone, I'm trying to solve a couple mysteries I had with this piece. Recommendations are welcomed and appreciated!
1. The color of building in the bottom right corner, in the reference shot - what are the colors of the lights and darks? It's like a purply brown green? I struggled to match the range of values.
2. My method for doing stars is that common flick technique, but I've found that ends up too fine of a mist. I ended up painting most of the stars one dot at a time. Is there a better way?
