My fiancée's sister requested a painting of an old barn. This looks more like an abandoned shack or shed to me, but I think it turned out well. This is only the second Cabin® I've ever painted. Does anything bug your eye in this one? Do the shadows look okay? Critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking!
Thanks Brian! I agree, I keep feeling like this is 'missing something' but I got fatigued from staring at it so much. I'd contemplated having a big foreground tree on the left to frame that side a little better. A little treeline on the left horizon would be easier to add. I'm aiming to keep this one on the lower-maintenance side :D
Awesome sky!
Looks good. It is always a question of perspective, this is correct here (no architectural drawing needed to be honest, basic perspective needs to be there and it is here) and the cabin looks very nice as it has a bit a character. I like that. Well done Jeff
Nice Jeff. Love the look of the cabin.
I just saw this little gem! This is absolutely gorgeous Jeff!! I love EVERY single thing about it! Your sky (colors and execution) is sublime. The lay of the land, perspective are perfect! The little fence gives so much character to this compo! The barn is an absolute superstar! this is a 12 out of 10!!
If you want to make it more "farm-ish", just add a little old antique wooden or steel farm wheel laying on the front wall of your barn (see my original compo "harvest Season"). I put a ladder in the past (see my "country life" BR recreation - S6E11). Those are just ideas. It could be anything you would see on a farm. It really will undoubtedly scream "Farm" instead of shack. 😉
Thank you for this Nancy! I still have time to add a little something before gifting it away. I may do just that :D

Nice Jeff! Maybe a small clump of trees in the upper left background?
