Misty Landscape tutorial (Allen Dixon)

Jeffth 10 Sep 2024

I'm liking Allen's style of work, mostly because of the muted colors and semi-minimalist feel. I like the bleak and peaceful vibe I get from it. I had a bit of trouble at times, but he's generally easy to follow. There are flaws here, but it was a good experience. I'm mainly bothered by the shape of the waterline. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful! I love everything about this. The soft mist is great and that reflection is wildly effective. Great job!

Very nice with that reflection in the water!

Looks like a photo. Great job

I am also a fan of the Tonalist style. I think your version is even more in the spirit of Tonalism than Allen's original. His work is great and his fully narrated videos are so helpful in that they show you all of the subtle problem-solving that goes into his paintings.

Very nice, I love it. Never heard of Allen Dixon, need to check his tutorials.

Thank you for saying so, drac. I'm curious now, what makes my version more in the tonalist spirit than Allen's: the colors, blending, or just vibes? And thank you Tom, I'm glad you like this! It took me a while to stumble across his youtube channel, he is still a bit obscure. I'm looking forward to seeing your version, if you do one of his tutorials!

Just WOW!!!So simple and so striking! I love this compo. Never heard of Allen Dixon either. I will def check him out.

Thanks Nancy, I'm glad you like this one. I'm still discerning my taste in art, and what kind of art I'd like to make, and tonalist-type work like Allen's has certainly piqued my interest.
