My first real Kevin Hill tutorial! I'm quite pleased with the result, feel like I learned a lot. While I still see flaws, I enjoy looking at this more than I usually do when I finish something.
Huge thank you to Nancy (Ninoum) for pointing me in the direction of this tutorial. I can't wait to start the next one some day!
Great job! Wonderful painting!
Really Great ππΌπ©πͺ
Great painting Jeff!
Where did you find the tutorial?
Wonderful painting Jeff.
@Bobsmith - it's available on Kevin Hill's website.
Absolutely stunning!!
Lovely! Itβs also in my list to paint!
Thanks everyone π
You did an outstanding job Jeff!! So proud of you!!! The mood is so soothing. You totally nailed all the aspects of it. It was a pleasure to send you this one to start with. Probably one of the easiest of KH. But all the elements of his technique are in this one and will help you greatly with his other tutorials. I really just can't get over how beautiful this painting is! πππ
thank you thank you thank you Nancy! His compositions are so beautiful. I'm beginning to wonder how to compose an original scene in this style, and how to make decisions like what to put where and why.
I kept hearing your comment in my head, "Almost everything gets at least 3 colors to achieve the effect" and you are so right.
Oh by the way, I had a question for you about your own work. Are you still using the mini projector to add the extras to your own paintings? Like the recent fabulous cart and most recently the tractor? They always turn out looking so real I just can't imagine how it's done from scratch.
Thank you again for being such a helpful guide on my painting journey.
Outstanding Jeff!
Thank you Tony!
Glad you learned lots doing a KHβs tutorial. It really makes me happy! π
To answer you question, I use the little projector and/or make a template from an image I found on the web. For example, my little cows. I printed the size I needed, then with a very sharp exacto knife, I cut out the shape (this can be tedious. The cutout needs to be perfectly cut.). Then I put my template on the canvas and with a very small blender brush, I tap gently the inside of the template. This will leave a perfect imprint of the cutout on the canvas. For the tractor, I used a self made template and I also free handed lots of it. Hope this helps out. Let me know if you need more info/details. π
Thanks Nancy, I'll email you:)

Jeff, nice work! Love Kevin Hills paintings :) really well done :)
Thanks Daniel. I really enjoy your work, and I hope to produce original paintings like that some day :D
Thank you so much :) I started out in 2020 and come from a stick figure background. Still canβt draw. But this filled a deep void I had. Then a passion started. If someone is hungry for it, really they will become great at it. I love seeing everyone grow on here. Have enjoyed your work :)
Excwellent! i love this work.
