I thought about calling this one “hovel”, after the writer in Ecclesiastes. “Hovel, everything is hovel.” Word for smoke or mist. It’s here and then just as quickly disappears like smoke. Hovel. The writer is referring to life in pursuit of pleasure.
Alas that doesn’t make the best name for a painting I suppose. This is a still life inspired by Robert Warren, a really gifted artist in my opinion, especially with still life. This is an 18 by 24 black canvas primed and overlayed with greens, red wine colors, and purple grapes sitting in the light on an old oak table, complete with a smoke filled room - “Hovel. Everything is Hovel.”
Thank you Sandy :) I took a break from painting for a while and decided to try something different when I started again.
