Almost nothing went to plan in this painting. Lots of frustration but overall happy with how it turned out. One of those days.
Thank you
Those days are the worst but I think it looks pretty fabulous. I love the distant hills. Really gives you a feeling of distance and depth, great piece!
Thank you Kaylee :) yes those days stink. The right side of the tree was my nemesis. I had taken a foam brush and gessoed in an outline of a horse. Which didn’t look terrible for my first time in non stick figure drawing. The problem came when I tried to paint it. It looked like a freak of nature. So I tried to scrape it and paint over it. I really want to branch out and do wildlife and other types of structures but I’m having a difficult time finding good tutorials that my ms brain can retain. Maybe just practice I guess. :)
It’s impossible to have to much practice at anything in my book! I think you “hid” your accident amazingly and did it just the way Bob would encourage! I hope you find a tutorial you like (then maybe share it!)
Thank you! I certainly will share anything I find :)
Hi Kaylee, I promised I would share what I find helpful. It’s not really specific to creating animals but they are included. For a month now I’ve had access to a 30/month membership at alexanderart.com. I called them direct and did it over the phone. There are I think 5 or so artists that you have access to including tons of bill alexander paintings. Lots of good instruction on florals, seascapes, still life and landscapes. Some of it is over my head. But I am learning and applying some things. Check it out and see if it might be helpful for you too. For me, it’s a tad steep but I’m also absorbing as much of the videos as I can to get the most out of it. I struggle with memory so it’s a lot of repetition for me but still good. Have a great day!
