Just a a simple winter themed painting I did
Thanks a lot Nick! One very simple thing to achieve the perspectice are those little trees in the midground. Since their bottoms are cutoff by the landscape in the foreground it creates that downhill perspective. Has worked every time so far :)
PRETTY SKIES..GREAT PAINTING.CHEERS.P
So, Marc. What is your secret ingredient for making acrylic paintings look like oil paintings? I'm happy with my water-mixable oil paints, but I'm still curious as to how you accomplish the above.
Great job.👍
Really nice painting, love the distance of those far hills and the sunset reflecting off them. The snow on the evergreens and bushes is spot on too 👍
Nice and delicate colors! Great scene!
Thanks so much people!
@Alex: I use a mix of golden open titanium white, golden open thinner and golden retarder to mix a liquid white equivalent. That already goes a long way. For my skies and water I also use golden open while fore the mid and foreground I like to use thicker acrylics paints like amsterdam expert or, depending on what consistency I need, Amsterdam standard. The point is that golden open paints stay wet considerably longer, so where I want to make use of that characteristic I those. The thickest paints I use are liquitex heavy body but I usually only use them for mountain highlights. The rest just comes down to using bobs techniques for brush strokes etc. :) Hope that helps :)
Thanks for the reply, Marc. Your method really works for you. This painting looks even better now that I'm viewing on my computer instead of my cell phone.
Very pretty! lovely colors and nice simple composition

I love it. I've always struggled to paint a scene featuring a point of view that looks down over a landscape, so color me impressed that you nailed that perfectly with this. And across the board, from the birds to the twigs, your details are fantastic in this.
