Deep forest paintings turned out to be one of my favourite things recently. Something I always wanted to try, was a multi-part series of connected deep forest paintings in different colors. Few weeks ago I finally started and finished the last one last week. I really like the result and it turned out to be one of my favourite works so far!
Thanks a lot Jeff! I have done about 5 of those multi part paintings with continuous scenes with different topics by now and I really like doing them and changing something up in each part (4 season landscapes for example).
About the acrylics vs. oils thing: It might disappoint you a bit but in fact I can't really answer your question since I actually have zero experience with oils sonI can't even compare. Only thing I can say is that one reason I stick to acrylics is that I do not have to use thinners or turpentine for my brush care and such and feel a bit safer considering health. Then again I use some mediums for my liquid base of which I admittedly do not know the health impact.
I guess using oils might be a bit more straight forward in execution, since I need to mix up my liquid base first.
I think the most important reason to me why I stixk with acrylics though is that it kind of became a challenge to me to master the technique in acrylics. There's something special to it I feel and I feel it also adds a bit that "specialnes" to my paintings. Comments like your's put a bit of affirmation to that believe, so again: thank you very much!
these are so great!
Thank you Jessie!
That's so cool; it seems like you're conquering that challenge. No worries about not comparing oils to acrylics, it's purely a curiosity of mine as I am still learning about painting in general.
So impressive. Acrylic work on top of it... respect! Amazing work Hammipaints!!

Wow this is really impressive. I really like the idea of having one continuous scene, yet each one could really stand strong on its own. I also really enjoy the color scheme choice for each one. The elements are well executed in all three. I still find it amazing how you manage to make acrylics look like oils. What are your thoughts on acrylics vs. oils for this style of painting? What are the pros/cons of choosing one over the other? Great work, cheers!
