This is the first non-landscape still life that I’ve done. And it’s my 13th oil painting to date now. I haven’t hade much time to paint recently with school, but I’m trying to get back with it. These piece took me about 4 hours. I used a photo of a skull without a mandible online for reference. My favorite part of this one was highlighting it with the yellow grey color on the top layer. The difficult part was getting the shapes totally correct because it’s a lot less fluid than landscapes. The thing that took the most time was definitely layering all the colors.
Thanks! Yeah it was a combo of a really old skull and some trauma I think
Great start with still life. Skull is incredibly difficult thing to do and you went for it! Super!
Thank you! Now I need to look for other still life’s to do
