The results of another Chuck Black instruction video, I learned a lot about painting clouds and trees. I used the two brushes Chuck uses for the entire painting, the Dynasty Faux Squirrel 1/2” angle and the 1/4” Princeton Select Dagger Striper. He painted on an 8” x 10” but I went with a 12” x16” linen panel. Paints are mostly Gamblin with some Michael Harding and Blue Ridge Oil Colors.
I’m finding that mixing a tiny amount of Liquin Impasto and walnut oil into each color enables me to bring them all to a similar consistency, forming peaks when pulling the knife up. This makes the color mixing much easier and applies well to the canvas.
Thanks Pam, I was keeping color coordination in mind while painting the foreground. Lots of hours in it, but I’m pleased with the result.

Beautiful job! Your clouds and trees are terrific. I love the colors and how you carried the reds and golds from the background to the foreground. Great depth!
