This was inspired by a photo of a painting by Vernon Murdock. I’m always attracted to the red rock. I tried an aluminum panel and was pleased with it. I liked it better than MDF panels, but I think my favorite is still the linen panels. I’ve found painting on any of these hard surfaces helps me with details. I used the brushed side of the aluminum and primed with Michael Harding non absorbent acrylic primer.
Blue Ridge and MH oils. 14 x 18
Very nice. That foreground foilage is especially good.
Super pretty! Great vibrant contrasting colors! Love that left foreground tree. Those leaves are incredibly well done!
Thanks to all for the kind comments. The brushes used for the foreground and tree detail were a Kevin Hill liner brush for limbs and sticks (it's the best liner I've found), a Princeton Summit 6100R Round 2/0 to tap on leaves, and a well worn Princeton Select Dagger Striper for some of the ground plants.
very beautiful, I'm especially drawn to the foreground as others have said. Great colors in the grasses. This almost has a pointillism vibe to it.
Thanks Jeff. I spent a lot of time working the fine details on this one.

Those branches in the foreground are fantastic. Which brush did you use for that?
