This was somewhat inspired by a Yarnell tutorial. I was interested in achieving distance and a storm brewing sky. I’m pleased with the light colors as it stands out more on a dimly lit wall. 18x24
Oh wow. This is really good! I don’t think I’m familiar with that one. Will have to look that one up. Very nicely done.
Fantastic painting love the overall feel although I have never seen a cactus scene.. really well done .. Happy painting
Very nicely done
The depth caught my attention. Nice work!!!
You definitely achieved great depth, and I really like the colours and values for the middle distanced hills and foreground rocks.
Beautiful!
Gorgeous!
I’m jealous if your cactus work! The last time I painted them it came out looking a bit wonky. I do really like the lightness - almost gives it a watercolor feel to the painting.
Thank you all for the kind comments. Tom, I can say the best decision I made was signing up for the Jerry Yarnell tutorials. He paints in acrylic so that was new to me, but I’ve learned a lot about color mixing and creating depth, layering, etc.
Lilikins, most cactus I’ve seen are kind of gnarly looking so I figured these are a bit too nicely shaped 🌵!
Happy summer and painting to all!
Such a wonderful scene FVG! the distance is amazing, colors works so beautiful together!
Sunnylady, thank you so much!
