I painted this for my brother and it was from a photo taken at nearby Oak Creek. I tried to portray all the gold reflected in the water from the trees. The creek is full of large boulders and I wanted to show how they changed the flow of the creek. I use acrylics and the challenge with acrylics is getting them to blend like oils.
Yes it is. I live in the Village of Oak Creek and love going to the creek for inspiration.
I have visited Sedona a few times and always enjoyed exploring the Oak Creek area. Such a view to look down from Bell Rock! I’ve been thinking of searching my AZ photos for inspiration. I’m in the Smoky Mountains area so plenty of beauty here, but I have a serious soft spot for your area.
I love your area too. I've camped in the Smokey's but would love to spend more time there. I remember picking ruby red garnets from a stream. I miss lush green forests. It's great to live in pretty areas when you're an artist.

This is beautiful! I like the way the tree frames the top and the leaves and rocks are nicely done. Wondering if this is Oak Creek in AZ.
