Working on those trees and leaves. Still not much definition and difficult for me to get bushes to separate themselves but I think I may be actually thinning the paint too much or pushing too hard on the brush. This was a small canvas (11x16) since I was just trying out some new technique. It's getting there but I ain't giving up. First attempt with the broken tree too.
Thanks for the advice Tom. I think I may am being a little frugal with the amount of paint I use. I just didn't want to cake it on and then have to palet knife it off. Appreciate your comments.
You are welcome. Sometimes it’s really sad how much paint needs to be used for the foliage.

What I have found during my 3 years painting experience with this technique is that you need a lot of paint (and I mean really a lot) to create the highlights like Bob does. Normally I really push the 1 inch brush into the paint and then pull it. When you pull it it often creates already "leave like" shapes on the palette. When this happens it normally works for me when I use the brush wit very little pressure on the canvas then. Maybe this helps.
