There were a few challenges in this oil over acrylic 12 x 12” painting on canvas board in Michale’s Beginner / Intermediate series. I as aware of the roughness of the river and reflections while I was painting it (it was supposed to be smooth), but it wasn’t until I was loading the photo up that I realised the tree looks a bit like a musical interlude, rather than a tree with real and kinky branches. So some targeted further practice and repeat at some stage is probably in order.
I love the tree like it is.
I read that roughness as first ice on the water. It looks great and quite cold to me.
The tree is full of gentle poetry and music as you said. It has wonderful and magical feel.
Love the peach colors and purple shadows, wonderful painting Dave!
I love the tree as is. It looks full and lush. I’ve had the same experience though of noticing things after taking a photo. I’ve started taking photos of my painting when I take breaks and it helps me see things I want to fix. It’s my version of “stepping back 6 ft”.
Thank you everyone for your supportive and kind comments and suggestions as to the alternatives that I have inadvertently captured in this painting. Much appreciated. Cheers
